I had my first phone interview. It was an internal (company’s) recruiter, and she sounded half-dead on the phone.

At the end I asked her: “do you like your job? Are you happy working for this company?” Boy, the pause was long before she answered!

The recruiter only waited a few hours to let me know that they will move ahead with other candidates. I guess the feeling was mutual.

I doubt myself in the moments like this. Even though I rejected them in my mind, once they reject me, I wonder: “should have I done something differently? Should I have been less straightforward?”
